Job Summary:
Georgia Power's Land Department is seeking a motivated GIS Technician to assist in managing and maintaining spatial data systems. This entry-level position will support various GIS-related tasks including data entry, map creation, QA/QC, and database maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or have up to 2 years of experience in a GIS environment and a passion for spatial data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with data entry, updates, and QA/QC in GIS databases
- Support spatial data maintenance and integration across systems
- Create maps and exhibits to support land acquisition and project updates
- Combine data from multiple sources for cartographic products
- Produce feasibility and project update maps
- Attend training to develop proficiency in GIS tools and standards
- Assist senior GIS Analysts in larger project initiatives
- Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS software, including ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro
- Basic geoprocessing and cartographic skills
- Experience working with enterprise GIS databases a plus
- Exposure to ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal or ArcServer preferred
- Understanding of metadata and QA/QC processes
- Proficient in data visualization and map production
- Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
- Strong organizational and workload management skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
