Electrical I&C Project Engineer

RK&K is seeking an experienced and licensed Electrical or Controls System Project Engineer. to assist with electrical and instrumentation/control (I&C) design efforts for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineering professional with a background in treatment plant upgrades, pump stations, and related systems.
Essential Functions
- Work with electrical and I&C design team for water/wastewater projects including treatment plants and pump stations
- Design, size, and specify electrical and I&C equipment
- Conduct technical evaluations and support planning and design of electrical and control systems
- Prepare and review technical memoranda, proposals, reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Provide field services and support investigations as needed
- Assist with documentation and support for facility startup and commissioning
- Collaborate with clients, utility owners, and multidisciplinary project teams
- Develop detailed engineering cost estimates
- Travel occasionally for short durations as required
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field
- Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical and Control System
- 4+ years of progressive experience in electrical or I&C systems design, construction, and commissioning for water and wastewater facilities
- Control panel design and instrumentation selection
- PLC and SCADA systems design
- Electrical/I&C drawings development
- Piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) development
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Project, Excel, PowerPoint)
- AutoCAD, SCADA systems including PLCs, HMI software, servers, and workstations
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and NFPA 820 codes
- Strong technical writing and communication abilities
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on practical solutions
