Gibson & Associates, Inc. is seeking highly motivated and energetic people to join our team as Shop Mechanic.As a Shop Mechanic, you will be required to work in the shop, and occasionally drive the field service truck between locations to perform repairs to support daily operations by keeping heavy mobile equipment, trucks and tools in good operating condition in order to meet production needs. This position will require you to work on location, in Balch Springs, Tx with occasional one day trips when required for pick-up or on-site maintenance needs. We are headquartered in Dallas, Texas with the majority of work occurring throughout Texas, we also perform work through out cities in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, Florida and Mississippi. Founded in 1985, by William E. Gibson, Gibson & Associates, Inc. began it's story in the growing town of Balch Springs, Texas. With paving and bridge rehabilitation projects being its primary focus. Job responsibilities to include but not limited to:

  • Perform maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair of company trucks, equipment and tools involving mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, gasoline engines and diesel systems.
  • Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts.
  • Provide technical assistance and help troubleshoot general maintenance issues for various types of equipment including, but not limited to: fleet trucks (International, Peterbilt, Mack, Ford, Chevrolet, and Toyota), air compressors, forklifts, loaders, skid steers, aerial lifts, hydra platforms, trailers, concrete mixers, concrete finishing machines, arrow boards, and message boards.
  • Maintain a readiness to provide support, direction, or act in response to equipment breakdowns.
  • Report to Shop Manager weekly regarding the status of equipment and vehicles in the shop.
  • Promote and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current and accurate records of regular service and maintenance for fleet equipment.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
Job Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's license with acceptable driving record (ability to obtain CDL within 6 months of hire)
  • 5 years of experience repairing/maintaining vehicles and equipment; or trade school graduate.
  • Must own tools applicable to position with experience in welding, hydraulic, electrical and diesel auto knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of schematics and diagrams
  • Ability to frequently lift items up to 50 lbs.
  • The ability to work in a varied outdoor environment (cold, hot, dry, dusty, rainy)
  • Willing to work after hours and weekends if needed.
  • Familiarity with tools, equipment, and standard maintenance practices for the construction industry. Operate and have working knowledge of a wide array of complex equipment.
  • Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel is preferred.
