Job Description Summary

The Certified Medical Support Assistant plays a vital role in patient care by reporting to the Outpatient Clinic Manager and working directly under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position involves performing various multi-skilled tasks to promote a patient-centered approach and achieve the best possible health outcomes. Responsibilities include assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under a physician's direction, interviewing patients, measuring vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height, and accurately recording or entering this information into patients' medical records. The role also entails preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with at least one year of patient care experience preferred.
  • Certification required through American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Health Career Association (NHA), or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP).

Additional Job Description

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required, either from the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers or an equivalent AHA-recognized certification, or the American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
