Summary of Job Duties:The Lab Support Technician will support all sections of the Clinical Outpatient Laboratory through proper phlebotomy techniques as well as proper specimen accessioning, processing and related activities. Use of correct blood collection tubes, ordering correct test from requisitions. Match identifiers to information on requisition and labels. Obtain blood from patient using proper phlebotomy techniques for clinical or medical testing, transfusions, donation, or research. Resolve specimen and patient problems as they arise. Follows all UAMS Department of Pathology Policies and Procedures for blood collection. Obtains patient specimens at an acceptable rate. Additional duties will be assigned as needed.Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/ GED or formal education equivalent

Job Requirements:

  • Performs and documents preventative maintenance on and sterilizes lab equipment.

  • Reviews inventory, orders supplies, and rotates stock as needed.

  • Maintains patient folder system including collating and entering new reports, setting up new folders, pulling folders needed for testing and interpretation, filing completed folders, and archiving inactive files for storage.

  • Perform other duties as needed.
