Required Skills:

Software Engineer - Research Systems Responsibilities:

  1. Automate training of machine learning models on many different types of data

  2. Collaborate with researchers to determine what data to collect and annotate

  3. Support researchers in training new models and automating workflows

  4. Collaborate with users to understand usability issues and develop solutions

  5. Collect usage metrics and develop features to increase developer/research experience

  6. Develop tests and processes to ensure software stability and correctness

  7. Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail while advocating for higher product quality and engineering efficiency

  8. Develop backend software used by annotators to label data and enable researchers who use the resulting datasets

  9. Code using primarily C/C++, Java, Rust or Python

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta

  2. 3+ years experience with Python/Jupyter software development

  3. Experience with SQL databases

  4. Experience with scripting languages

  5. Proven track record of shipping software

  6. Experience with software development practices such as source control, code reviews, unit testing, and debugging

  7. Collaborator with communication experience across teams of varying knowledge of components

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with machine learning (PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar)

  2. Experience with NumPy/OpenCV/PIL

  3. Experience developing and managing large-scale distributed systems

Public Compensation:

$56.25/hour to $173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
