JOB SUMMARY
This position performs advanced real-time intelligence and analytical functions in support of the City’s Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). The analyst monitors multiple information streams, evaluates complex data, identifies emerging patterns and threats, and delivers actionable intelligence to command staff, investigators, patrol personnel, and other stakeholders. The role supports strategic and operational decision-making, resource deployment, crime prevention, officer safety, and RTCC process improvement. Shift flexibility (including nights, weekends, and holidays) is required for 24/7 operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Real-Time Monitoring & Incident Support
• Monitor real-time information streams (radio, CAD, social media, camera systems, LPRs, and other platforms) to maintain situational awareness during active incidents.
• Provide real-time intelligence updates, leads, suspect/vehicle information, and safety alerts to patrol officers and investigators.
• Operate RTCC and public safety communication systems, preserve video evidence, and assist with suspect/vehicle tracking.
Investigative & Intelligence Support
• Review video, images, databases, and other intelligence sources to identify suspects, vehicles, and evidence.
• Support prosecutors with case preparation and provide testimony when required.
• Serve as a liaison with law enforcement partners to share relevant intelligence during major events or critical incidents.
Advanced Analytical Work
• Analyze crime data, calls for service, traffic incidents, GIS information, LPR data, and other structured/unstructured data to identify patterns, trends, relationships, threats, and emerging issues.
• Apply statistical, spatial, predictive, and qualitative methods to support both tactical and strategic decision-making.
• Evaluate data reliability, significance, and operational impact using independent professional judgment.
• Prioritize analytical requests based on urgency, risk, and organizational needs.
Intelligence Products & Reporting
• Convert complex analytical findings into clear, concise intelligence products for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, maps, charts, reports, and other visualizations that communicate crime trends, operational activity, threats, and performance indicators.
• Produce recurring and ad hoc analytical reports for command staff and department leadership.
Strategic Advisory & Collaboration
• Provide assessments and recommendations regarding crime trends, resource deployment, operational risks, and public safety strategies.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional analytical projects involving internal and external partners.
• Offer technical guidance to personnel and partner agencies on interpreting and using RTCC intelligence products.
RTCC Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
• Assess RTCC processes, technology, and data sources, recommending improvements to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and information quality.
• Support evaluation, implementation, and optimization of new public safety technologies and analytical tools.
• Develop project plans, methodologies, and performance metrics for assigned initiatives.
Data Management & Documentation
• Maintain accurate databases, spreadsheets, and other analytical records; ensure data integrity and completeness.
