Cboe interns work with a variety of staff across multiple departments and have the opportunity to put their skills to work in their field of interest, while learning about Exchange technology and operations through our robust Options Institute courses. The three main foundational pillars of our internship program are: develop, educate and network. We want to ensure each of our interns receive a real-world working experience that encourages academic, professional and personal growth. Candidates should be versatile, eager and able to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive financial and technical environment. Our interns will be working 5 days in office per week at one of our state-of-the-art offices in Chicago, Kansas City, and New York City. To be eligible for this internship, applicants must be enrolled in a university or college program and should not be scheduled to graduate before December of the internship year. Role Overview
As an Infrastructure Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting the technology that powers Cboe's global workforce, offices, datacenters, and exchanges. This role provides exposure to both
Network Infrastructure
and
End User Computing (EUC)
, offering opportunities to work with enterprise networking, security, automation, end-user support, identity management, collaboration technologies, and AI-driven solutions. Working alongside experienced engineers and specialists, you'll contribute to real projects, support day-to-day operations, and develop technical skills in a fast-paced financial technology environment. You'll also complete a meaningful summer project and present your work to team members and leadership. What You'll Do
Support network and EUC teams with day-to-day operational activities Assist with troubleshooting hardware, software, networking, and end-user technology issues Help maintain and document infrastructure, inventory, diagrams, and technical procedures Participate in network configuration reviews, testing, and infrastructure change activities Build or enhance automation solutions using tools such as Python, PowerShell, or other scripting technologies Explore and evaluate AI-powered tools and workflows that improve operational efficiency Assist with firewall reviews, security policies, identity management, and device administration Work with collaboration technologies, conference room systems, and endpoint management solutions Track work and document progress using Jira and Confluence Partner with experienced team members to learn enterprise IT operations in a global environment Deliver a summer project and present your findings and recommendations at the conclusion of the internship Qualifications
Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Networking, or a related field Basic understanding of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, and switching Familiarity with Windows, macOS, cloud technologies, or endpoint/device management concepts Exposure to scripting or automation through coursework, projects, or personal experience Interest in technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, automation, and AI Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality Curious mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative Nice to Have
Experience with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or other scripting languages Familiarity with Azure, cloud platforms, or mobile device management (MDM) Knowledge of firewall, VPN, or network security concepts Experience with Linux or command-line tools Exposure to AI tools, prompt engineering, LLMs, or automation projects Familiarity with Git, REST APIs, JSON, Jira, or Confluence Coursework or certifications related to networking, security, or infrastructure (Network+, Security+, CCNA, etc.) Hands-on lab experience (Packet Tracer, GNS3, EVE-NG, home lab, etc.) Benefits and Perks Competitive compensation Flexible, hybrid work environment, 5 days in office. 2:1 401(k)
