Job Description:

At Regions, the Training Consultant - Subject Matter Expert works with management to determine training needs, recommend solutions for associate performance issues, and use consultative skills to uncover needs and negotiate the best solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Researches current trends in the topic area, shares with client partners, and synthesizes findings to support learning objectives
  • Remains current on industry trends and developments
  • Helps to assess and provide feedback regarding associates' acquisition of knowledge and skill at the completion of training
  • Recommends additional self-development or training activities to promote skill development
  • Designs learning items based on accurate, current information consistent with sound theories and principles of adult learning (e.g., adults desire practical application, adults learn best if they have control over the learning environment)
  • Assesses and meets the professional development level and characteristics of target audiences
  • Writes learning objectives based on participants' level of knowledge and experience and area descriptive of desired outcomes
  • Chooses the appropriate instructional methods and materials for the proposed learning objectives (i.e., self-reflection, group discussions, demonstrations, multimedia presentations, visual aids)
  • Develops measurable learning objectives and evaluates audience understanding during and after training
  • Delivers training based on principles of adult learning, using a variety of instructional methods and media appropriate for the proposed learning objectives (i.e., group discussion, questions, teams, role-play, skill drills, games, and visual aids/multi-media presentations)
  • Facilitates experiential learning activities by clearly explaining instructions, providing ongoing direction and feedback, guiding trainees in processing the experience and drawing conclusions, and resolving issues when activities do not progress as expected or achieve learning objectives
  • Connects learning points throughout the course by building on prior concepts, incorporating participant feedback, and reinforcing how individual topics support overall learning objectives
  • Utilizes technology and communication strategies to reinforce learning and build skills by preparing associates for training and providing ongoing follow-up, coaching, and reinforcement after training
  • Applies curriculum sequencing and organization principles to arrange content and design activities that create a coherent, integrated learning experience
  • Possesses specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise of the assigned discipline and broad knowledge of related disciplines within the function
  • Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices
  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions
  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
  • May lead functional teams or projects

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
