Senior Manager, Delivery

to join our team of Artisans

About the Role

This is a senior delivery leadership role in our Generative Orchestration practice, reporting to the Director of Generative Orchestration. You split your time between leading client engagements and building the practice that every engagement runs on. Generative Orchestration is how Artisan delivers when AI does most of the production work. Status reports, requirements drafts, and test cases get cheaper every month. What stays hard is judgment: is this the right work, is the result right, where is the bottleneck, and does the client trust it. You own those calls on your engagements, and you help our project managers, scrum masters, and analysts make the same shift. You will lead one or more client engagements as the senior Orchestrator, and you may step directly onto a new engagement as your first assignment. Outside client work, you own large parts of the practice itself: the playbooks, templates, readiness assessments, and coaching that make AI-driven delivery repeatable. This role is designed to grow into practice leadership. As you grow, you take on more of the delivery organization, including people leadership and ownership of our client delivery process.

Key responsibilities

Lead client engagements end to end as the senior Orchestrator: own the outcome, run the delivery team, and partner with client executives. Hold the line with senior client stakeholders on scope, readiness, and trade-offs, and have the hard conversation early instead of late. Gate kickoff on client readiness: confirm decision authority, data and system access, governance, environments, and working agreements before work starts. Own the business side of key decisions: accept or reject AI-generated output against client intent, hold the business sign-off on architecture decisions with cost or risk weight, and keep a decision log the team and its agents can use. Explain technical decisions to clients in plain language, so engineers stay focused on building. Build and maintain the practice's operating assets: delivery playbooks, templates, the Delivery Readiness Assessment, and the standards for how Jira, Confluence, and shared drives are organized on every engagement. Coach project managers, scrum masters, and analysts as they move into Orchestrator, Strategy Analyst, and Acceptance Lead roles. Find delivery risk early across engagements, and drive the fix with engineering and design leads. Partner with sales and solutions architecture on scoping and estimates, so engagements start with a clear line between in scope and out of scope. Help define the hiring bar for the practice and interview delivery candidates. About the Candidate

You are a delivery leader who owns outcomes, not tasks. You have run engagements where no playbook existed, and you built one as you went. You are direct with clients. You can tell a client executive that a date is at risk or a request is out of scope, hold that position, and leave the relationship stronger for it. You push for change inside your own organization the same way, with evidence and follow-through. You use AI tools in your own work every day, you know where their output fails, and you own every deliverable that comes out of them. You want to help define what delivery looks like when AI does most of the production work, and you want to grow into practice leadership. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

8+ years delivering software, data, or cloud projects, with 5+ years leading delivery teams, including running several engagements at once. Experience in a consulting or professional services company, accountable for client delivery, scope, and executive relationships. A track record of building delivery process adopted across multiple teams or engagements, not only your own: playbooks, templates, operating rhythms, or delivery standards. Hands-on experience with Agile delivery and its tooling (Jira, Confluence, or similar), including setting it up for a team, not only using it. Daily, hands-on use of generative AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) in delivery work, with the judgment to verify and own their output. Experience coaching project managers, scrum masters, or analysts. People management experience is a plus. Clear written and verbal communication with executives, clients, and engineers. Extra Credit
