Responsibilities Work in a 54-bed Neuro Med-Surg Acute unit within an acute care hospital environmentPatient population includes individuals with stroke, spine surgery, seizures, brain tumors, head injuries, neuroscience conditions, and some medical overflowNight shift position, 3x12 hour shifts (1900-0700), including every other weekend and holiday rotationNurse to patient ratio is 1:5-6 on nightsRequired to float in rotation with staff; general unit floats take a full assignment, other units only skills-appropriate tasksTitrate drips such as heparin based on PTT; must have experience with heparin gttCharge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7Unit uses EPIC for documentation; charting experience preferredPhillips telemetry monitors used but nurses are not required to read stripsParticipate in a two-day, unit-specific orientation with an educator and a preceptorNo scrub color requirement; tattoos must be covered and only ear piercings permittedFloat assignments based on competency when outside the home unitCOVID-19 vaccination is not requiredTeam includes nurse aides and patient care techs with established support ratiosNo call or standby requirements Requirements Active IL RN license required at time of considerationMinimum 1 year of recent neuro unit experience requiredTravel nursing experience required; first time travelers not acceptedLevel 1 trauma experience requiredCertifications required: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS, both active at time of considerationMust have experience titrating heparin dripsAbility to work night shifts, every other weekend, and holidays Benefits High Pay and BonusesMedical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options401(k) PlanWeekly Payroll DepositFree Online CEUsGenerous Housing AllowanceTravel and Licensure ReimbursementsNon-taxed Per Diem and SubsidyTraveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-625098.
