The Fleet Repair Technician is responsible for:

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on fleet-owned vehicles and equipment, including passenger vehicles and light- and medium-duty trucks.
  • Independently diagnose and repair gasoline and diesel engines, transmissions, steering and suspension systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, electrical systems, and engine performance components.
  • Prioritize, schedule, and complete assigned work with minimal supervision to maximize vehicle reliability, safety, and fleet availability.
  • Conduct thorough inspections to identify maintenance requirements, safety deficiencies, and emerging equipment issues, recommending appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform functional testing, operational checks, and road tests to verify repairs have been properly completed and vehicles are safe for service.
  • Accurately document inspections, diagnostics, repairs, labor hours, and parts consumption within the electronic fleet maintenance management system.
  • Manage assigned inventory items, research repair parts, and coordinate procurement of materials necessary to complete repairs efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs, warranty work, inspections, and contracted services, monitoring progress and verifying quality of completed work.
  • Utilize technical manuals, service information systems, wiring diagrams, technical service bulletins, and other resources to support troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while complying with all applicable safety regulations, department policies, and industry best practices.

What you will need to succeed

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of applicable experience as an Automotive Technician strongly preferred.
  • ASE certifications in A4 (Suspension and Steering), A5 (Brakes), and A6 (Electrical/Electronic Systems); Preferred
  • State Safety Inspection License and enhanced Emissions license is desirable.
  • EPA Section 609 Air Conditioning Certification.
