We are seeking Driver Helpers in Joplin, MO

5am-3pm

Job Summary

The HBDS Driver Helper is the second member of a two-person delivery team, responsible for the safe handling and placement of appliances and heavy-bulky product in customer homes and businesses. The helper works alongside the driver through the full route, from dock load through final placement and assembly, and is qualified to operate the box truck so the team can run whenever either member is unavailable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle, carry and place appliances and heavy-bulky product safely inside customer residences and businesses, including room of choice placement, unboxing, positioning and assembly where in scope.

  • Protect the customer's home during delivery: floor and doorway protection, clearance measurement, and safe navigation of stairs, corners and confined spaces.

  • Accurately load, stage and secure product for the daily route, and scan and verify all route product before departure.

  • Support route execution alongside the driver, including navigation, delivery coordination and customer communication at the door.

  • Operate the box truck when required, including on days when the assigned driver is unavailable.

  • Support pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspection and report maintenance or safety issues.

  • Prevent, identify, document and immediately report any product or property damage before leaving the delivery location, including overages, shortages and damages.

  • Follow detailed work instructions and established operating procedures in a fast-paced environment.

  • Safely operate warehouse and material-handling equipment for dock loading when trained and authorized.

  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, company safety requirements and customer-site rules.

  • Maintain a clean, organized and professional vehicle, uniform and work area.

  • Provide professional customer service and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Valid driver's license (REAL ID) and acceptable motor vehicle record required.

  • Current DOT medical certification required.

  • Ability to operate a box truck, and willingness to drive the route when required.

  • Must clear First Advantage background screening and all customer-required screening prior to onboarding.

  • Previous appliance, furniture, heavy-bulky or in-home delivery experience preferred.

  • Basic hand tool usage and product assembly skills.
