MRI Technologist
The MRI Technologist plays a crucial role in the diagnostic imaging process by demonstrating an in-depth understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, contrast agents, MRI safety, and medical terminology. This position requires maintaining a high level of accuracy in patient positioning and imaging techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform MRI procedures following established protocols to acquire diagnostic information as directed by physicians.
- Prepare and administer contrast agents under the supervision of a radiologist, adhering to state and federal guidelines.
- Ensure patient safety and quality care in a controlled environment, accommodating patients ranging from infants to adults.
- Communicate effectively with patients, demonstrating sensitivity to their physical, cultural, and emotional needs.
- Evaluate and monitor patients throughout the imaging process to ensure optimal care and comfort.
- Engage in continuing education to enhance knowledge, technical skills, and patient care practices.
- Utilize independent judgment and critical thinking in the execution of duties to uphold ethical standards in patient care.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a non-degree program from an approved AMA Radiologic Technology program or MRI certificate program is required.
- Relevant experience in the field is preferred.
- Registered Technologist (R) (MR) certification is required.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
The MRI Technologist must maintain a professional demeanor while promoting lifelong learning and continual improvement in patient care and technical competence.
