Amergis Healthcare Staffing, Inc.-Allied is seeking a travel Mammography Technologist for a travel job in Washington, District of Columbia.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: Mammography TechnologistDiscipline: Allied Health ProfessionalDuration: 13 weeks40 hours per weekShift: 8 hoursEmployment Type: TravelThe Mammography Technologist performs a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.  The Mammography Technologist uses specialized X-ray equipment to take images of the breast tissue and work with radiologists to interpret the results.  The Mammography Technologist helps detect breast cancers early to improve the chances of successful treatment and survival. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Performs a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriateExplains mammography procedure to all patients; answers any patient questions or concernsPositions patients, using immobilization when necessaryCalculates exposure factors, and assist physiciansPerforms the quality control functions related to mammographyEvaluates radiographs for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as neededPrepares and sets up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate.  Explains procedures to patients prior to start and ongoingDevelops mammography film and match with the appropriate paperwork for interpretationAssists in maintenance and compilation of statistical dataAdheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and proceduresOther duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:Operates all breast imaging equipment located in the Breast Center for the purposes of performing screening and diagnostic mammography exams according to physician’s orders and assisting with needle localizations, stereotactic breast biopsies and ultrasound biopsies.
