About the role
Chatbooks is looking for a strategic, data-driven, and hands-on Director of Acquisition Marketing to lead new customer growth through paid media, SEO, and multi-channel acquisition strategies. This role will own performance and growth marketing while collaborating closely with Analytics and Finance, Lifecycle, Content & Community, Operations, Product, Development and all other teams across Chatbooks to ensure a holistic approach to customer acquisition.
In addition to optimizing core paid channels, this leader will be responsible for expanding reach through new channels, including digital video, YouTube, brand partnerships, affiliates, influencer strategy, and CTV, to improve brand investment and lower-funnel efficiency. They will also own SEO strategy, ensuring technical excellence, testing, and alignment with content efforts to drive organic growth.
A key member of the Marketing Leadership Team, this role will lead a high-performing team, drive conversion rate optimization (CRO) in partnership with Product, and refine attribution methodologies to enhance media mix modeling, budget allocation, and overall growth strategy.
The Director will also own and present weekly acquisition business reviews to executive leadership and the CEO, ensuring transparency and data-driven decision-making.
What you'll do
New Customer Acquisition Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-channel acquisition strategy, with a primary focus on paid media while ensuring strong collaboration with lifecycle, content, community within Marketing, and key partners and stakeholders across Chatbooks, including Finance, Analytics, Product, Development, and Operations.
- Expand new acquisition channels, including establishing and growing brand partnerships, affiliates, influencers, digital video, YouTube, other experimental channels, and CTV, to drive brand reach and long-term efficiency of lower-funnel paid channels.
- Partner with CMO, Creative, and Content to deliver highly effective channel and audience-specific assets across all mediums.
- Own SEO strategy and execution, including technical SEO improvements, testing methodologies, and organic search growth.
- Partner with the Content & Community team to align organic and paid acquisition strategies, ensuring SEO-driven content enhances overall growth.
- Own channel diversification strategy, testing and scaling new platforms while ensuring proper attribution and measurement.
- Partner with Lifecycle Marketing to align paid and owned channels for a seamless full-funnel customer journey.
- Own the strategy, execution, and optimization of all paid channels, including Meta, Google, TikTok, programmatic, affiliates, YouTube, and CTV.
- Lead SEO growth initiatives, ensuring technical SEO health, keyword strategy, site structure, and optimization efforts support acquisition goals.
- Drive testing strategies and measurement frameworks to efficiently scale new and existing channels, with clear reporting of business cases, key learnings, and recommendations.
- Ensure that paid media insights directly support brand, lifecycle, and product teams in optimizing their acquisition strategies.
- Oversee creative and messaging experimentation, working with the creative team to develop, iterate, and test ad formats for optimal performance.
- Refine attribution methodologies to improve media mix modeling, budgeting, and investment strategies.
- Partner with Finance & Analytics to develop robust incrementality testing frameworks that inform where and how to scale.
- Implement cross-channel measurement strategies to maximize efficiency and scale within paid and organic acquisition.
- Lead CRO efforts in partnership with Product, optimizing landing pages, checkout flows, and onboarding experiences to improve conversion rates.
- Guide a data-driven testing roadmap that improves performance across web and mobile.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to implement rapid experimentation frameworks, ensuring continuous funnel improvement.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team of acquisition marketers, providing coaching, professional development, and strategic guidance.
- Foster a culture of curiosity, innovation, and accountability, ensuring that the team is constantly testing, learning, and optimizing.
- Ensure the team is aligned with company-wide priorities, providing clear direction and focus.
- Serve as a key leader on the Marketing Leadership Team, influencing overall marketing strategy, team structure, and growth plans.
- Serve as a leader on the Chatbooks Leadership Team, influencing corporate strategy and direction.
- Actively collaborate with cross-functional leaders across the company, including Product, Finance, Analytics, Development, Operations, and Brand to drive company-wide growth objectives.
- Lead weekly acquisition business reviews, presenting insights and recommendations to executive leadership and the CEO.
- Synthesize complex data into clear, concise, and actionable presentations that drive strategic decisions.
- Continuously refine reporting frameworks, ensuring acquisition performance is measurable, transparent, and aligned with business objectives.
- 8+ years of experience in acquisition marketing, with deep expertise in paid media and SEO.
- Proven track record in channel diversification, including digital video, YouTube, CTV, affiliates, partnerships, and influencer marketing.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in managing high-performing teams in a fast-paced, ever-changing growth environment
- Strong foundation in attribution modeling, incrementality testing, and media mix optimization.
- Deep knowledge of paid platforms (Meta, Google, TikTok, YouTube, programmatic, CTV, affiliates, etc.) and the ability to strategically guide execution while leading high-level growth initiatives.
- Experience leading SEO strategy, including technical SEO, testing frameworks, and content optimization.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Lifecycle, Content, Community, and Product teams to create a cohesive acquisition strategy.
- Ability to thrive and deal well with ambiguity in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Hands-on experience in Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO), including A/B testing and full-funnel optimization.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to present data-backed insights to executives and drive business decisions.
- Experience with MMPs (Kochava preferred), ASO tools, and mobile acquisition best practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
- Experience with subscription-based products is a major plus.
- Develop a comprehensive acquisition strategy, outlining paid media expansion opportunities, new channel tests, and media mix improvements.
- Build a testing roadmap for digital video, YouTube, and CTV, presenting clear goals and success metrics to leadership.
- Partner with Product & CRO teams to identify key funnel optimizations and run first tests on landing page performance.
- Implement a refined attribution methodology, working with Analytics to improve measurement and reporting.
- Establish and refine weekly reporting structures, ensuring executive leadership has a clear view of acquisition performance.
