Summary:
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Deputy CMO) role is a duties-modifier and functions as an additive role to a medical provider's primary / home duties and job description. The Deputy CMO provides administrative back-up to the Chief Medical Officer, completes special projects as required, and provides C-suite level presence in the CMO's absence (due to PTO, other leave, or in-the-moment unavailability). The Deputy CMO provides leadership across the agency and functions in the leadership succession planning of the organization.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Performs the job duties of primary work role as described in the position description
- Provides back-up coverage for CMO duties in administrative meetings, special projects, and human resources / disciplinary meetings
- Provides leadership, work direction, and support for the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
- Cultivates and develops relationships with community peer organizations and providers
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Ability to acquire and maintain an unrestricted license to practice Medicine: Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Physician Assistant (PA), Doctor of Medicine (MD), or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) License
- Experience working with the aged, the uninsured, the underinsured, individuals with severe mental health disorders, and / or substance use disorders preferred.
- Ability to acquire and maintain DEA Controlled Substance Prescribing Registration prior to date of hire
- Ability to credential with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurers
- Must have a wide knowledge base required roles of various personnel and programs in the agency and community.
- Interpersonal, decision making, judgment, and communication skills plus medication management, psychotherapy, and collegial relations with teams.
