Deputy Chief Medical Officer

Summary:

The Deputy Chief Medical Officer (Deputy CMO) role is a duties-modifier and functions as an additive role to a medical provider's primary / home duties and job description. The Deputy CMO provides administrative back-up to the Chief Medical Officer, completes special projects as required, and provides C-suite level presence in the CMO's absence (due to PTO, other leave, or in-the-moment unavailability). The Deputy CMO provides leadership across the agency and functions in the leadership succession planning of the organization.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Performs the job duties of primary work role as described in the position description
  • Provides back-up coverage for CMO duties in administrative meetings, special projects, and human resources / disciplinary meetings
  • Provides leadership, work direction, and support for the Director of Nursing (DON) and Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)
  • Cultivates and develops relationships with community peer organizations and providers
Non-essential Job Functions:
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Licensing and Experience:
  • Ability to acquire and maintain an unrestricted license to practice Medicine: Advance Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), Physician Assistant (PA), Doctor of Medicine (MD), or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) License
  • Experience working with the aged, the uninsured, the underinsured, individuals with severe mental health disorders, and / or substance use disorders preferred.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain DEA Controlled Substance Prescribing Registration prior to date of hire
  • Ability to credential with Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurers
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must have a wide knowledge base required roles of various personnel and programs in the agency and community.
  • Interpersonal, decision making, judgment, and communication skills plus medication management, psychotherapy, and collegial relations with teams.
