Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States Temple School Of Medicine Full time
Summary of Position

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (Temple University, Philadelphia) seeks outstanding basic and translational neuroscientists for a tenure-track faculty position.

The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. Applicants should have an MD and/or PhD degree and are expected to have or establish a creative, independent research program. A track record of extramural funding (NIH, NSF, or industry) is required. Areas of particular interest are neurovascular biology, tissue engineering for functional models of neurovascular units, and drug delivery into the central nervous system. Another focus area is mechanisms of lung injury in various inflammatory conditions, functional models of alveolar epithelial barrier, and lung drug delivery. The research environment is interdisciplinary and highly collaborative. Generous startup funds and outstanding new open lab space (including a new BSL-3 facility) are available. New faculty will have the opportunity to collaborate with a very active group of NIH-funded neuroscientists within the Department focusing on blood-brain barrier regulation, HIV CNS infection, stroke, neuro-lupus, effects of diabetes, and effects of alcohol/drug abuse and electronic cigarettes on the neurovascular unit and of alveolar epithelial barrier. This position will complement and synergize with ongoing basic, translational, and clinical research programs in the Department and across Temple's Medical campus.

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise and a successful track record in these areas.

Faculty Appointment, Benefits/Compensation
The new faculty member will carry a Tenure Track faculty appointment in LKSOM within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The annual compensation shall be determined based on experience and qualifications.
