The Physician Assistant program at the UNC Chapel Hill School of Medicine, Department of Health Sciences, is seeking a qualified Physician Assistant to join our academic program. This fixed-term, open-rank position is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, engaged PA to become a part of our newly accredited academic program. This position also offers the possibility of serving as Director of Pre-Clinical Education based on interest and experience.
The position is a 12-month, full-time Assistant/Associate Professor of PA Studies and serves as Principal Faculty position in its Department of Health Sciences, Physician Assistant Studies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Didactic instructional preparation including engaging classroom instruction, varied assessment, ongoing curriculum evaluation and modification, student progress monitoring, and student advising.
- Assisting with the admissions process as well as the design and implementation of student orientation.
- Engage in student and alumni mentoring efforts, recruitment and retention initiatives, ongoing accreditation compliance, general program support, and service to the profession.
- Clinical practice 1-2 days a week.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three years professional clinical practice experience involving direct patient care
- Certification by the appropriate certifying body
- Eligibility for medical licensure in North Carolina
- Dynamic and innovative educator with strong communication skills
- Prefer a minimum two years of clinical experience in physician assistant education
