Safety Representative

Martin Marietta is currently looking for a Safety Specialist to support our Minnesota locations. The Safety Specialist is responsible for the daily safety and health tasks required to support compliance at asphalt and aggregate mining operations. This includes safety and health administration, training, auditing and providing direction for location safety and health compliance.
A typical day for a Safety Specialist may include:
• Performing plant inspections and conducting follow up sessions with plant leadership to address findings.
• Conducting MSHA Part 46 and OSHA training at assigned asphalt plants and mines.
• On a monthly basis, leading assigned local asphalt and mine safety audits, tracking results, providing local leadership with continuous improvement options and follow up on all action items.
• Leading and/or reviewing all local property damage analysis.
• Leading or providing direction to all assigned location incident investigations.
• Completing workers' compensation administration based on company expectations for all assigned locations.
• Completing all safety center administration on observations and near misses for all assigned locations.
• Monthly, providing location leadership an update on safety audits, observations and near misses with follow up on all open action items.
• Participating in MSHA visits at assigned locations.
• Assisting in the development of annual refresher training and participating in the training process.
• Participating in the annual review of MSHA Part 46/48 and OSHA training plans to ensure compliance with MSHA and OSHA regulations.
• Coordinating annual SOMA Industrial Hygiene assessments and training for all locations.
• Assisting in identification, analysis and control of occupational hazards requiring the application of hazard resolution.
• Participating in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
• Ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures.
• Maintaining MSHA and OSHA logs.
• Performing other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
• Ensuring DOT Compliance and proper recordkeeping
• Travel will be frequent and primarily within the Division and assigned Region. Out of town and overnight travel will be expected.
You may be a good fit if you have:
- An associate's degree or equivalent experience (a bachelor's degree in Mine Engineering or Occupational Health and Safety is preferred)
- MSHA Blue Card preferred
- OSHA 30-hour General Industry Card or OSHA 511 is preferred
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
This is a safety-sensitive role and Martin Marietta will continue to require drug testing that does include testing for cannabis/THC.

Salary Posting:
The base salary compensation, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary), will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity. In addition to our base compensation and bonus opportunities, we also offer a competitive benefits package (more information on benefits listed below).
