The Registered Vascular Sonographer (Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) requires a high level of knowledge, ability, and responsibility in patient care and the performance and preliminary interpretation of non-invasive vascular exams, including but not limited to, lower and upper extremity venous duplex exams, lower and upper extremity arterial duplex exams and pressure measurements, carotid duplex exams, and visceral duplex exams. Will be required to perform after-hour calls and will include holidays. Critical thinking and good communication skills are necessary to interact with patients, families, and medical professionals. This position requires an appropriate credential in vascular testing.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program or appropriate training in vascular sonography.RVT preferred or registry eligible per ARDMS requirements. · or · Registered as a Vascular Technologist within six months of employment.Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Medical SonographyRegistered Vascular Technologist with the ARDMS or equivalent or Registry eligible.CPR, clinical experience in Vascular Sonography preferredThe ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1+ years of desired experience to perform clinical assessment, and all requested vascular sonographic examinations as ordered by the physician.Additional Information:Responsibilities:Performs clinical assessment and high-quality diagnostic noninvasive vascular examinations in an accurate and timely mannerFollows the written policies and procedures of the vascular lab, but is capable of deviating from normal techniques when clinically necessary.Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images.Assists in student and resident education while performing examinationsResponsible for the safety, mental, and physical comfort of the patient while in the sonographer's careDemonstrates proper identification of patients by asking for name and date of birthAssures the exam ordered is completed; if the exam requested is questionable, contacts the ordering physician to verify the orderMaintains patient privacyMaintains a clean work area and a properly stocked examination roomAssures that images are stored under the correct patient’s name and medical record numberPreliminary findings must be attached to the orderProvides an appropriate preliminary findings report; reviews questionable findings with the director/MD on timeProvides positive preliminary findings in certain cases, which include but are not limited to, extensive deep vein thrombosis, acute arterial occlusion, or severe carotid stenosis, to the ordering physician/nurse/PACompletes charges for exams performed with appropriate CPT and files charges in Epic.Participates in the assessment of bi-monthly quality improvement.Participates in quarterly quality improvement meetings.Assists with the maintenance of IAC laboratory accreditation.Takes calls when assignedPrompt response to pager – contacting the physician immediately when pagedReturn to the hospital within an hour, unless the physician requests a specific time for the exam to be doneAssists in scheduling and prioritization of patient exams and aids in troubleshooting problems with scheduling or critically ill patients.Checks AED and initials documents appropriately in the Crash Cart folder; orders oxygen when needed and a new crash cart before expiration.Maintains all institutional training requirementsMaintains all continuing medical education requirements and maintains the ARDMS registrySalary Information:Salary commensurate with education and experience.Required Documents to Apply:License or Certificate (see special instructions for submission instructions), List of three Professional References (name, email, business title), ResumeOptional Documents:Proof of Veteran StatusSpecial Instructions to Applicants:Recruitment Contact Information:Please contactfor any recruiting related questions.Pre-employment Screening Requirements:Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse TestingThis position is subject to pre-employment screening (criminal background, drug testing, and/or education verification).
