What You'll Be Doing: The Designer II role is an integral member of a highly collaborative Design team responsible for design and development of soft-side luggage, business bags, men’s and women’s casual bags, and accessories. The designer should manage resource allocation and provides design creativity for products within the assigned product categories. You will work on-site 4 days per week with the opportunity to work remotely one day per week. Conceptualizes and develops innovative, brand enhancing products based on marketing briefs or design direction. Analyzes and researches new product market trends and consumer preferences. Presents concept direction to the Design management, and the Product and Marketing teams for strategic alignment. Manages multiple project timelines for the product design process. Creates and refine working prototypes ensuring newly developed design features function as intended. Communicates directly with international vendors and global product development team to oversee product development of assigned projects. Creates clear and comprehensive technical documents sent overseas to be interpreted and translated into an accurate, functional prototype. Collaborates with design staff and product developers on specs, prototype samples, timelines, pricing, packaging, compliance, and sourcing. Understands market and retailer trends and gains knowledge of competitor products. Travels to industry trade shows, overseas development trips and buyer presentations. Evaluates product testing to improve functionality, style, quality, and success in the marketplace. Informs management of challenges and problems and recommends possible solutions. We're Excited If You Have: BS/BA in Industrial Designs, Fashion Design, Apparel Design or related creative professional experience. 4+ years of design experience in a related category Comprehensive knowledge of Solidworks, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office. Portfolio demonstrating strong aesthetic sensibilities, commercially proven body of work, and successfully developed products. Demonstrated ability to visually and verbally communicate through sketches, renderings, and presentations. Passionate about product design, technology, fashion, and social trends. Understanding of fashion and market trends and application to men’s and women’s luggage. Experienced in softgoods design and construction with an understanding of technical cut and sew manufacturing techniques. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines throughout development to commercialization. Experience working with global manufacturers and willingness to travel domestically and abroad.
