Our typical recruiting process takes 2-4 weeks, depending on the current hiring volume and number of applicants.  The Finishing Operator has responsibility for functions occurring within the finishing center operations and may be assigned to duties that include packaging slit rolls to customer specifications, operating the manual packaging line, cutting cores, banding, etc. This requires the understanding of Avery Dennison standard packaging practices, and the exact program packing requirements. Higher level roles in the finishing operations include the operation of slitting, rewinding, and/or automated packaging equipment. This position may be required to rotate.Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:Activities and duties may vary depending upon site specific needs. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: OTM II Level:Sort, label, and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practicesInspect general appearance of finished productKeep area supplied with necessary packaging materialsPrepare cores for machine operatorsCommunicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operationsTrack multiple orders being packed at one time.Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivityMaintain a clean, safe work areaPerform 5S duties and auditsAssist in equipment maintenance activities as directedParticipate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities. Perform all other duties assigned by SupervisorQualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience.Must be able to follow written and oral instruction.Must regard safety as a core value; must serve as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures. Must have strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / education team in a timely manner. Must be able to actively contribute in a team based environment; encourage open communication and positive interaction with peers and management to effectively reach a common goal. Must demonstrate proficiency in essential tasks of the job and a willingness to learn and share knowledge; must take initiative to cross-train and sustain acquired skills. Must have demonstrated record of flexibility and dependability in order to support production and customer focus.Must be able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.Must demonstrate proficiency with computer applications, especially strong MFG Pro transactional skills.Must be able to obtain Lift Truck Operator’s license.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Preferred Requirements:3-5+ year’s previous experience.Solid interpersonal skills, mathematical aptitude, mechanical/technical aptitude and logical problem solving skills.Skilled in working independently in a safe and timely manner necessary.Be motivated towards productivity, safety and quality improvementsExperience leading continuous improvement efforts and knowledgeable about ELS Operating Principles preferred.Adaptive, flexible, able to handle ambiguity.Experience working in a team environment.NOTE: The physical requirements of this role may vary by location.  A detailed listing of the physical requirements may be obtained from the local Human Resource contact or the site Occupational Health Nurse.Additional InformationAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or other protected status.
