Busser/Food Runner

UTILITY JOB SUMMARY The Utility is responsible for: (1) helping to ensure guests receive excellent guest service by delivering food orders from the kitchen to guest tables quickly and accurately, (2) ensuring all plates are prepared and garnished correctly before delivering to tables, (3) maintaining the cleanliness of the expo line, (4) organizing the order tickets and communicating effectively with the back-of-the-house (“BOH”) team to ensure that food orders are prepared properly and efficiently, (5) cleaning and resetting tables after guests leave the restaurant, (6) ensuring the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates and glasses, (7) supporting servers’ table service as directed by the servers and MOD, and (8) maintaining the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and server stations. UTILITY ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES  Maintain a positive, high, well-balanced energy level throughout the entire shift Have strong interpersonal communication skills in order to greet guests, answer guest questions and address guest concerns in a warm, professional, and accommodating manner Exhibit consistently dependable, reliable, punctual, and trustworthy conduct Provide exemplary guest service on a consistent basis Complete any and all assigned cleaning duties, including stocking and organization Perform all assigned side-work quickly and efficiently Properly set up and break down stations before and after operating hours Expediter/Food Runner Responsibilities Ensure all plates are prepared and garnished correctly before delivering to tables Ensure guests have everything they need on the table including proper silverware, napkins and share plates when delivering food Work with servers and BOH to quickly correct any guest concerns regarding food orders, quality, and presentation Keep expo station clean, organized and well stocked Ensure all utensils are polished and well stocked Assist all servers, bartenders, and managers with carrying of plates Communicate food orders to BOH employees, paying attention to priority tickets, allergies, and special requests Busser Responsibilities Clean and reset tables after guests leave the restaurant Remove dirty utensils and replenish, as needed Ensure the restaurant is stocked with clean silverware, plates, and glassware Keep service stations clean Assist servers with food delivery and other table service duties as directed by the servers and MOD Take out trash Bring bus tubs back to the kitchen when they are full Move tables, chairs, and furniture to accommodate guests as needed   SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY Knowledge of Teamwork and Toast POS system Ability to read, write and speak the English language to interact with guests, the public, and coworkers Proficient verbal communication skills Ability to work under pressure and professionally deal with stressful situations during busy periods in a loud, busy, and crowded environment Strong interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction Must have strong knowledge of food menus Must have the ability to carry multiple plates at one time sometimes using a large tray and tray jack Knowledge of proper food handling requirements Knowledge of bar and kitchen items Basic mathematical skills Knowledge of daily maintenance and cleaning of venue Must have knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Department, Police, City, Etc. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent optional Experience Minimum of one year’s experience in a fast-paced restaurant/bar Age Must be at least 18 years old. Licenses or Certificates Food Handlers Card ABC Service Certification CPR certification and/or First Aid training preferred   GROOMING All employees must wear the proper uniform and maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance in accordance with the Company’s grooming standards.  This policy is implemented in compliance with the Company’s obligations related to accommodating religious beliefs and practices, medical conditions and disabilities.   PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT Must be able to work in an environment with constantly elevated temperatures Must be able to work and move quickly in a tight-space environment in a safe manner without disrupting other employees Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.   OTHER Applicants with additional language skills preferred Compensation: $17.25/HOUR PLUS TIPS
