POSITION CONCEPT 
Provide strong leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation and restoration of Tampa Electric Company's power distribution system. Oversee training, development, and coaching of Distribution System Operators (DSO) and other personnel as assigned.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
1. Establish and maintain an effective and positive culture of safety at the DCC. (10%)
2. Provide leadership for the DSOs to achieve department and company goals. (10%)
3. Provide leadership during storm restoration. Coordinate a timely response for service restoration for all TEC customers. (10%)
4. Provide timely and accurate information about system events to management, Corporate Communications and other departments as appropriate. (10%)
5. Develop and maintain work /vacation schedules for DSOs to ensure adequate coverage at all times. (10%)
6. Provide leadership to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the DCC. (10%)
7. Work as a DSO as needed to cover vacant shifts or during periods of high activity. (10%)
8. Serve as department liaison for Company initiatives and efforts. (10%)
9. Assist in providing weather forecasts and hurricane tracking services to management and coordinate pre- and post-hurricane activities. Activate and assist "Wire Down" team during hurricane restoration. (10%)
10. Work closely with Reliability to ensure outage records are accurate and complete for FPSC reports. (10%)

SUPERVISION
Direct Supervision: Distribution System Operators, Distribution Dispatchers 
Indirect Supervision: Troubleshooters, Line Crews, Network and Substation Personnel as needed to restore service and/or resolve distribution system problems

RELATIONSHIPS
Key Internal: Directly responsible to and has daily contact with the Manager of the DCC. Interacts daily with the Service Restoration Supervisors and frequent contact with the Managers and Supervisors of Customer Experience. Has frequent interactions with System Operations group, Distribution Operations, Substation Operations and Meter Operations. Works closely with Service Area Line Supervisors and Line Crews. Has contact with other departments within Tampa Electric including Labor Relations and Risk Management. 
Key External: Contact with Vendors, Contractors, Fire Department, Police Department, other Utilities and Customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education
Required: Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
Preferred: Related College or technical degree is preferred

Experience 
Required:  Minimum 4 (four) years of experience as a journeyman or related Energy Delivery experience at the journeyman level or above. Examples of related experience include Troubleshooter, Lineman, Substation Electrician, Network Technician, Distribution Design Technician, Planner/Scheduler or Engineer. Requires working knowledge of Tampa Electric's distribution system. Minimum 2 (two) years of Distribution System Operator or a 4 (four) year degree at an accredited college.

Preferred: Experience as a Troubleshooter (first responder) strongly preferred. Experience with OMS, CAD, GIS, SCADA, and Work Management systems preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) 

Required: Job requires strong leadership skills, high work standards and high stress tolerance. Good planning, organizing, oral and written communication skills, and teamwork are a necessity. The ability to accept, manage, communicate, and facilitate change in the workplace is a requirement. Ability to read distribution circuit maps. Familiarity with computers and software programs.

Preferred: Experience using the OMS/CAD, GIS, and/or WorkPro programs. Working knowledge of underground and overhead switching.

WORKING CONDITIONS 
Job involves working a rotating on call duty for Storm Boss in the dispatch office. After hours inquiries and responses can be expected. Activate and assist the "Wire Down" team during hurricane restoration coordinating the effort with the "Wire Down" team lead.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS
Must work extended hours mainly during storm season or as needed.
