Join our team As a Sr Principal Systems Architect you will guide the development and support of the Survivable Airborne Operations Center program. This includes total life cycle focus for the program from requirements development and architecture creation to system sell off with a focus on complex system designs and leading a team of engineers and subcontracts through architect definition. This will require high coordination with internal teams, SMEs, program management, customer representatives, and subcontractors. The Systems Architect works closely with the Chief Engineer and the Systems Engineering leadership to drive the technical solution across the program. They ensure the requirements and architecture focus the program on “building the right thing.”Your duties will also include developing architectures, beginning with logical and working with Integrated Product Teams to define the physical architecture, allocating requirements to architecture elements, deriving requirements to drive details into the model, creating and refining modeling standards and design patterns, distributing model elements to internal and external teams with merge model elements back into the baseline. Additionally, you will coordinate with the customer engineering team, internal team, and suppliers.The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.Qualifications You Must Have:Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 16 or more years of relevant experienceHigher education may substitute for relevant experienceAdvanced knowledge of engineering principles and practicesProgressive experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teamsThorough understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principlesExperience creating logical and physical architecture modelsExperience in Federated Modeling and Model Management Plan DevelopmentExperience in highly-technical high-pace environments with stringent schedulesExtensive experience with aircraft modifications with mission systems that included RF communications networks, audio and visual systems, NC3 mission systems, virtualization, and multi-enclave technologiesExperience coordinating technical solutions across programs to ensure consistent approaches on internal teams and suppliersQualifications We Prefer:Master's Degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline and/or Architecture or MBSE certificationsAdvanced experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as Jama, Dassault 3DX, Cameo, Dymola, and MATLABPractical knowledge of industry standard system engineering design principles, requirements management approaches, Traditional Systems Engineering and Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) approachesExperience with government open system standards such as OMS, FACE, CMOSSExperience with model data management and configuration management tools and processes with large, distributed models coordinated across multiple sites and suppliersExperienced in the application of ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288INCOSE CSEP/ESEP CertificationExtensive background in assessing and addressing Aerospace and Defense System Complexity and System Integration challengesExperience leading a multi-disciplinary team through system baseline definition and maturation exercises in a complex development settingExperience in executing high-impact trade studiesThorough understanding of establishing, tracking, and addressing key programmatic risksVirtualization architectures including Virtual Machines and Containerization technologiesAt Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) we deliver customer-focused technology and best-of-breed integrations in the aerospace and defense sectors.
