Dedicated to providing security to our employees, Kinder Morgan offers a comprehensive benefit program that includes medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, 401(k), retirement contribution and more.  We also offer a hybrid and flexible work schedule.Primary purpose: This position will be responsible for all aspects of a natural gas pipeline accountant for the West Region.  This position requires proficiency in using spreadsheets, databases and work processing software, along with the ability to learn new programs.  Candidate must be a self-motivated, flexible individual with a strong willingness to learn, accept responsibilities, tackle challenges and function in a demanding, fast-paced environment.  Overtime may be required during critical times including holidays. Essential duties and responsibilities:Monthly journal entry preparation and reviewBalance Sheet reconciliationsVariance analysisFinancial analysisRegulatory Reporting (FERC Form 2/3Q’s, EIA)Regulatory fuel filing reconciliationGovernment, GAAP and SOX complianceParticipate in timely monthly closeAbility to analyze complex accounting issuesWork directly with the Planning Group on a monthly basisPreparation of monthly financial reporting packages for management reviewSpecial projects and other duties within Pipeline Accounting as assignedParticipate in audits and provide necessary support to comply with requests for information or response to audit exceptionsTimely respond to all data requestsWrite effectively and understand written communications, including but not limited to emailCreate and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external customers, and departments supportedDeal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy and professionalismSpeak clearly, both in person and through Teams, using a high level of verbal skills and listen carefullyMaintain a regular, dependable attendance and high level of performanceMaintain a high regard for personal safety, the safety of company assets and employees, and the general publicMay be required to work non-traditional hours Position Requirements Minimum requirements: Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred or equivalent interstate natural gas pipeline accounting experience Competencies, skills, and abilities:Must have a complete understanding of Accounting ConceptsIntermediate to advanced proficiency level in Windows and Microsoft applications, including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Access and WordStrong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex accounting issuesMust be self-motivated and detail orientedAbility to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with various deadlines simultaneouslyAbility to work cooperatively and effectively with others, and maintain confidentialityAbility to complete work in a prioritized and organized fashionAbility to successfully perform multiple tasks, often with strict or changing deadlinesAbility to accomplish specific, measurable goals, and to “see the big picture” coupled with a desire to add value to Kinder MorganMust be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules, and adhere to established work schedulesAbility to identify, understand and meet/exceed expectations in an employee/employer relationshipAbility to perform the required and expected duties with minimal supervisionMust be able to perform all essential and marginal functions of the job Physical demands/Working conditions:The successful candidate will be required to clear a drug screen and a complete background check, including credit report, after an offer has been extended and prior to being employed.This position offers a hybrid work schedule (M-W in the office, Th and Fri work remote). This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files or small file boxes, up to 20 lbs, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:Above the minimum requirements, not required but advantageous in this position:Working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and regulatory accounting principles, including knowledge of FERC rules and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)Advanced Access / database management skillsExperience with Lawson financial software, specifically the General Ledger moduleGeneral understanding of the energy industry and familiarity with industry terminology.
