New York, United States ADAPT Community Network Full time

About ADAPT ADAPT Community Network is the leading human service not-for-profit and a pioneer in providing cutting edge programs and services for people with disabilities. Every day, we build a more inclusive world for thousands of New Yorkers through education, technology, health, residential and recreational programs in all five boroughs. Our Family Support Services Team provides people with disabilities and their loved one's information and resources on programs, services, and supports that are available at ADAPT Community Network as well as through our network of partners, affiliates, and friends. Job Description As a volunteer at community outreach events, you will represent ADAPT and share information about ADAPT’s support and services mostly at tabling events. You will be accompanied by an ADAPT staff member, who will support you and answer any questions you have. The ADAPT staff member will serve as a mentor and will role-model how best to engage with our community. A typical event could be from a few hours to eight hours on average. You will be expected to arrive at the time you and ADAPT staff agree to. We’re looking for people who have strong communication skills and enjoy engaging with people at our community outreach events. Those who enjoy their time with us the most are those who are adaptable and flexible, often learning new information on the job. Lastly, you should be organized and punctual as we often have people visit us the moment one of our community outreach events opens. Volunteer responsibilities: Assist staff with set-up and break-down activity. Help make presentation materials attractive and engaging to the public. Engage with event attendees about ADAPT’s supports and services. Distribute literature about ADAPT’s supports and services to event attendees. Capture interest of attendees at events and share with staff. Positively represent ADAPT at all times Any other tasks asked of by an ADAPT staff member Additional notes: This is an unpaid position. It can count for any program asking you to donate your time and effort. We’re also happy to provide references if requested. Those who open themselves up to more than one borough will have more opportunities available to them. Interested? Want to know more?
