Description PeaceHealth is seeking a Surgical Technologist for a full-time position in the Operating Room at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham, Washington.  Join our Surgery team in the following role: .9 FTE Day shift Surgical TechnologistWork three 12- hour shifts each week10 OR SuitesAssist in surgeries ranging from orthopedic, general, trauma, ENT, eyes, plastics, neuro, robot-assisted surgeries and more.  St. Joseph Medical Center is a 252-bed level 2 trauma center hospital that is part of PeaceHealth, a mission driven healthcare system in the Pacific Northwest. Enjoy scenic parks, museums, and a lively arts scene, as well endless outdoor recreation from hiking, biking, kayaking and sailing from Spring through Fall, to snow skiing, snow shoeing, and snowmobiling in the Winter months.We offer you:A current wage range of $34.82 - $52.28, wage dependent upon Surgical Tech experience and terms of our SEIU collective bargaining agreement.A hiring bonusRelocation AssistanceAn excellent benefits packageA caring and collaborative culture Job SummaryThis position is responsible for assisting the Surgical team during operative procedures by performing a variety of technical duties to primarily assist in responsibility for the preparation and maintenance of the surgical sterile field for the operative patient.Details of the positionArrange and inventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed to the surgical team.Understand and apply the principles of asepsis. Establish and maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.Assist in preparation and moving of patients.Cleans, disinfects, and sterilizes instrumentation. Assists with clean-up and room turnover.Access computer information as needed, such as preference lists and digital images.Participates in all safety initiatives. Adheres to programs such as SCIP and SCOAP quality initiatives.QUALIFICATIONS:Accredited Program Preferred: Surgical Technology. or recognized course of training as a Surgical Technologist.Required: Washington State Surgical Technologist RegistrationRequired Upon Hire:  Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support CertificationAt least 1-year of Surgical Technology experience in full-service OR is desired.CST preferredWorking conditionsLiftingPatient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.Frequent reaching/ bending/ squatting/ kneeling/ grasping.Lift/Carry: Frequently up to 15 lbs. Occasionally up to 20 lbs.Push/Pull: Frequently up to 20 lbs. force.
