Duties Description The Supervisory position of Child Abuse Prevention Specialist 2 is essential to the Regional Office’s ability to guarantee the safety and well-being of children in foster care residential settings, runaway and homeless youth programs and family-type homes for adults. The Regional Office is responsible for making sure that vulnerable persons that fall under the jurisdiction of the NYS Justice Center are cared for in a safe manner, within the residential settings where they are placed/live. This position will supervise all Justice Center work as well as supervise our Local District team. • This staff member will assign all cases/incidents/monitoring work out of the Vulnerable Person Central Registry • This staff will supervise all components of Justice Center work including investigations, providing technical assistance to investigators. • Participate in all supervisory meetings in conjunction with OCFS and the Justice Center• Supervise all Local District work with a focus on Child Protective Services • Oversee all fatalities in the RRO • Facilitate meetings within the RRO and region• Collaborate with other regional office staff on assignments when needed.• Other tasks as assigned by the Regional Director Minimum Qualifications A bachelor’s degree and three years of professional children and family services experience* including or supplemented by two years in the planning, development, or delivery of child abuse and/or neglect prevention programs. Experience must also include or be supplemented by one year of investigative experience and one year of professional supervision. Two years of successful permanent experience as a Child Abuse Prevention Specialist 1 may substitute for the one year of professional level supervision.*Children and family services experience may include, but is not limited to, adoption services, foster care services for children and/or adults, preventive services, and protective services for children and/or adults.
