This Opportunity POWER Engineers, Member of WSP, is currently initiating a search for a Project Engineer for our Tyler, TX office. You will be involved in projects with our Small Utilities Services Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges. Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of utility, industrial, and commercial scale projects in the public and private sector. Routinely assist with the research, design, concept development, and construction of transmission and distribution substations, power distribution, power regulation, renewable energy, as well as protection and control systems in a wide variety of contexts (utilities, transportation, building, and Federal, State, and local government projects). Substantiates reports and documentation regarding material, installations, component, and construction specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.Your Impact Help build relationships with clients and lead much of the project work we win as a seller-doerLead project work and mentor, train, and/or supervise the efforts of less-experienced engineers and designersDemonstrate a willingness to learn other design disciplines beyond substationsDevelop project work scope documents, budgets, and schedulesLead client project callsCommunicate effectively with clients, managers, staff and other departments to ensure project deliverables meet project requirements/scope/scheduleRespond to client questions over a range of technical topics and manage client expectations where appropriateExercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are Required QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for large capital projects.Engineer in Training Certification.Experience working with Operations and project controls for purposes of reporting and proposal development.Working knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordAbility to make technical computations and calculations involving the application of electrical engineering principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons to the appropriate regulations. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) + years of experience leading engineering project teamsRegistered Professional EngineerExperience with preparing project work scope documents, schedules, budgets, and sequence of work for construction of projectsExperience performing substation, transmission and/or distribution design for electric cooperativesDisclaimer: • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
