Test Engineer I

Job Summary:Join our team as a Test Engineer I and play a key role in automotive component testing and validation. You’ll configure and operate specialized test equipment, develop test plans and procedures, and ensure compliance with ISO , IATF , and ISO standards. This role involves interfacing with internal teams and customers, preparing reports, and supporting continuous improvement in test processes. Job Responsibilities: As required by the business, works with various products, equipment and disciplines. Interface with test requestors for test submissions; enter/track test submissions using laboratory test request database system. Customer interface with application and validation engineers when necessary. Experience with automotive industry test specifications. Testing experience with lines and assemblies in automotive brake, fuel, coolant, and refrigerant applications preferred. Configure necessary hardware and specialized test equipment as needed to complete assigned testing and provide technical know-how on particular products. Operate systems and specialized test equipment. Prepare and review reports on test results. Prepare quotes for requestors. Obtain quotes from outside vendors and prepare purchase orders for approval. Monitor and update test processes; assist in the review of test processes as they are developed, and perform other test-related tasks. Write test procedures when required and developing test plans. Gathers, coordinates and applies basic engineering data using established and appropriate or defined engineering principles and procedures. Provide technical expertise in testing and product knowledge. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Works on complex and somewhat routine assignments to develop skills and demonstrate technical judgment. Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. May lead and direct the work of others. Ensures compliance to ISO laboratory quality standard requirements, corporate IATF automotive management system, and ISO quality management system. Ensures compliance to the responsibilities within ISO and ISO environmental health and safety standards. Performs related duties and special projects as assigned. Skill & Education Qualifications: - years related work experience. Self-directed with a high degree of self- motivation. Proficient computer skills and abilities with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc). Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Basic knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and is disciplined in their application. Minimum of BSME required. Working Conditions: Occasionally lifts and carries up to pounds. Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting and bending. Works within an automotive components manufacturing laboratory setting and may be exposed to heat, cold and fumes/chemicals. Regular and predictable attendance. Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods of time.
