JOB SUMMARY Instrumentation Controls Technician's perform work related to the design, fabrication, installation, maintenance, operation, inspection, and testing of a variety of control systems equipment including, but not limited to, electrical, electronic, pneumatic, PLC, computer, variable frequency drive, electro-mechanical, digital, telemetry, and analog components used in production, maintenance and wastewater process control systems; and perform other duties as required. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Participated in equipment failure root cause analysis and corrective solution development. Performs changeovers in partnership with co-employees that meet or exceed allotted time. Looks for ways to streamline the process. Install, remove, calibrate, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair plant instrumentation equipment and components. Interpret and work from process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. Documents, monitors, maintains, and assists with reporting of shift events, logging Predictive Maintenance data and assists with work planning utilizing information systems and productivity software. Responsibility to adhere to Food Safety policies and report food safety and quality concerns to their supervisor. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working as an Instrument Tech IDEAL CANIDATE QUALIFICATIONS Certification, associate degree or higher in automation and electronic systems, instrument and control systems, or industrial instrumentation KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Fully understand the purpose and operation of the electronic equipment and instrumentation throughout the plant and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment when a situation dictates. Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties Must be able to use basic math on all units of measure, compute rate, ration, and percent. Must have strong verbal and written communications skills with ability to express ideas professionally, effectively, and efficiently in the common language. Ability to effectively work across multiple departments within the plant such as operations, engineering, safety, and product quality. WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds, frequently lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, occasionally lifting/carrying up to 100 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 101+ pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, frequently pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds, occasionally pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 101+ pounds. This position works: Reports to the facility in times of emergencies; evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required Must be able to work in confined spaces and in harsh weather conditions. Potential Hazards : Mechanical; Electrical; Other (slippery floors, trip hazards, heights and sharp objects). Protective clothing or personal devices required : Smocks, protective gloves, goggles, safety glasses, face shield, hearing protection, bump caps and/or hard hats and any other personal protective equipment (PPE) as deemed necessary to perform the job safely. Manual Dexterity - Computer Keyboard Fingering Frequently required to stand for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to climb or balance, talk or hear, and taste or smell. Occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Frequent repetitive tasks.
