DescriptionBlue Cypress is seeking a Community Planner I with one to two years of experience to support current and future projects in the areas of land use and transportation planning and related program implementation. The Community Planner will be an integral part of our team and play a key role in public and stakeholder engagement efforts, collect and interpret data, carry out technical analysis related to land use and transportation, and draft planning narratives and outreach materials. This candidate must have strong written and verbal communication skills, be adaptable to working on a variety of projects, and excel at working in a collaborative team environment and engaging regularly with community stakeholders. If you are excited about shaping your career to fit your passions and want to influence the direction in which our company grows, we want to talk to you Responsibilities include: Supporting community planning services, including community outreach, land use planning, transportation planning, program implementation, and other strategic planning initiatives Helping design and facilitate community and stakeholder meetings, activities, and events Developing graphics and promotional materials such as social media posts, handouts, flyers, banners, and yard signs for use at in-person activities and to create an online presence Using a variety of platforms such as websites, survey tools, MailChimp, ESRI StoryMaps, Adobe Creative Suite, and other emerging technologies to facilitate community engagement and create project documentation Collecting and preparing data for inclusion in planning analyses and documents Creating project documentation in the form of technical memorandums, final plan documents, outreach summaries, and slide decks Performing current and long-range planning tasks and analyses concerning land development, transportation planning, urban design, and others, as current project work allows Supporting office functions as needed, such as marketing initiatives Helping staff and facilitate evening and weekend project meetings and events Supervisory Responsibilities This position is not expected to be responsible for supervising direct reports. Travel There is potential travel up to 20%, consisting primarily of travel within the local Metropolitan Area (e.g. driving to client sites, attending meetings/conferences, etc.) with some travel that may be required out of state. Project meetings/conferences may require evening or weekend commitments. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This is a hybrid position (in office/remote). We offer a telecommute option to work once a week from the office, with a minimum of 6 times per month at the office, and the remainder of the time to work from home. If desired, employees may work up to every day in the office instead of at home. The Community Planning team aims to work collaboratively in the office two days per week, with flexibility for project and individual needs. During onboarding, new hires may be required to work more frequently in-person at the office with their supervisor. While in the office, the employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure to electronic office equipment. Smoking and vaping shall be prohibited in all enclosed areas within the workplace.
