Learn the Regulated Utility Business: Gain invaluable exposure to the complex and fascinating world of regulated utilities, developing specialized knowledge that's highly sought after in the energy sector Diverse Learning Environment: Work across multiple accounting areas including regulatory accounting, financial reporting, and compliance - broadening your skill set beyond traditional corporate accounting while developing a controllership mindset Industry Impact: Contribute to the financial management of critical energy infrastructure that powers communities across the nation Professional Growth: Develop expertise in utility accounting and ratemaking as well as FERC regulations that will differentiate you throughout your career Collaborative Culture: Partner with cross-functional teams including business management and operations to understand the full business impact of financial decisions Key Responsibilities: Prepare journal entries for revenue, receivables, regulatory assets and liabilities, accruals, amortization and prepaid expenses Prepare comprehensive general ledger reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts monthly Analyze monthly transactions for regulated companies and collaborate with other departments to investigate and explain variances Prepare critical monthly and quarterly reports for both internal management and external regulatory bodies Support quarterly and annual financial statement preparation, including footnotes and specialized FERC reporting Participate in year-end external audits by preparing detailed schedules and comprehensive supporting documentation Develop and maintain desktop procedures to ensure process excellence and knowledge transfer Provide analytical support for ad hoc reporting and special projects as business needs arise What You'll Gain This role offers the unique opportunity to understand how accounting principles apply in a regulated environment while contributing to the financial management of essential energy infrastructure.
