Duties Description Under the direction of a Human Resources Specialist 2, the Human Resources Specialist 1 (HR Spec 1) will provide a full range of human resources services related to Staffing, Recruitment and Performance Management, disciplinary matters, administrative investigations, and other employee relations issues, as well as provide contract interpretation, and personnel administration. Duties shall include, but not be limited to: • Conferring with various parties to ensure timely processing of personnel transactions.• Provide cross training and support within the units as the workload changes.• Involvement in orientation of newly hired employees.• Participation/completion of trainings, as required.• Posting and filling of assigned titles/positions.• Monitoring and processing probations.• Conducting job audits.• Participation in onboarding of new employees.• Follow-up with potential candidates, verify eligibility requirements are met.• Administration of CS tests and submission of documentation, as needed.• Respond to e-mail and phone inquiries.• Provide assistance reviewing E-file records, as needed.• Participation on assigned committees(s).• Track and manage yearly performance evaluations.• Office coverage to 5pm on rotating schedule.• Assist supervisors with questions, concerns and providing guidance on probation and yearly evaluations.• Travel to and participate in job fairs, career days and other recruitment events.• Ordering supplies for recruitment events.• Processing/liaison for vendor contracts.• Perform other duties, as assigned.LinkedIn: /company/nys-office-for-people-with-developmental-disabilities/posts/?feedView=all#LI-DL2 Minimum Qualifications Competitive:Candidates must be reachable for appointment on the Current Civil Service Eligible List, Professional Careers Opportunity (PCO) or Public Administration Traineeship Transition (PATT). Appointment may be made at the traineeship level.Open Competitive:Human Resources Specialist Trainee 1, NS (equivalent to SG-14): A bachelor's or higher degree.Human Resources Specialist Trainee 2, NS (equivalent to SG-16): A bachelor's degree and one year of professional human resources experience.Human Resources Specialist 1, SG-18: A bachelor’s degree and two years of professional human resources experience.Substitution: An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master’s degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for six years of experience.Transfer:Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive, non-competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law.
