Position will be open until filled.We are currently seeking:A Deputy City Marshal to join our team. In this role, you will perform a variety of law enforcement activities on behalf of the City Marshal's Office; serve warrants and assist in enforcing Municipal Court orders; issue citations; apprehend and arrest offenders; serve as Bailiff; provide court security; and perform other related duties as assigned.Your responsibilities will include:Participating in the daily activities of the City Marshal's Office including law enforcement, court security, and criminal investigations.Protecting, serving, and enforcing the orders and directives of the City's Municipal Court.Assisting in collecting outstanding Court fines that remain unpaid by arrest or other means.Serving misdemeanor and felony warrants, subpoenas, summons, and Court orders.Conducting a variety of patrol duties; responding to calls for service from the Municipal Court and the San Angelo Police Department; investigating suspicious persons or activity.Acting on violations of laws and ordinances; issuing citations for traffic violations and/or other Class C misdemeanor offenses; apprehending and arresting offenders; transporting prisoners.Compiling statistical data pertaining to arrests, contacts, and warrant stops; preparing and submitting daily activity sheets and incident/offense reports.Providing security services on behalf of the Municipal Court; patrolling and monitoring Court facilities; screening visitors for weapons and contraband items; escorting defendants to and from the Courtroom.Serving as Bailiff during trials, hearings, and/or other Court proceedings; monitoring and ensuring compliance with all Courtroom rules.Transporting, collecting, and distributing bank bags for the Municipal Court and the City's Finance, Water, and Permits departments.Operating a passenger van and transporting community service workers to and from worksites.Regular and timely attendance is required.The above duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.Requirements and Skills:Conducting a variety of law enforcement duties on behalf of the City Marshal's Office.Enforcing the orders and directives of the City's Municipal Court.Performing patrol duties and responding to calls for service.Issuing citations and arresting and apprehending offenders.Serving as Bailiff and providing court security services.Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other staff, City departments, outside agencies, and the general public.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:High School Diploma or equivalent; and two years law enforcement experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Required Licenses or Certifications:Intermediate Officer Certification and Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCOLE) Certification is required.Must be currently up-to-date with TCOLE mandated training hours for the current training cycle, to include the sixteen (16) required alert hours.Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.Physical Demands / Work Environment:Work is performed in a court environment and in the field when conducting law enforcement duties on behalf of the Municipal Court.Subject to operating law enforcement vehicles, apprehending/restraining offenders, utilizing firearms, sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 94 pounds.Exposure to variable weather conditions, general driving hazards, firearms, hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, and combative and/or violent individuals.Job postings may be withdrawn at any time at direction of the City Manager.
