Job Summary The Director of Development will secure private and voluntary support from alumni and friends for UT Arlington, Libraries and Honors College. Manage a portfolio to identify, qualify, and cultivate potential major gift donors. Solicit constituents in collaboration with academic leadership and ensure proper recognition and stewardship. Collaborate with colleagues in Development and Alumni Relations and within the Libraries and Honors College to develop and advance fundraising strategies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the management of 80-100 potential or actual donors.  Make personal contact, including in-person visits, with a portfolio of individuals and, when appropriate, corporate representatives and foundation officers to build relationships and secure and steward major gifts for the Libraries and Honors College in coordination with the Deans of the Libraries and Honors College. Serve as an integral team member for the Libraries and Honors College and work closely with the leadership, faculty, librarians, and staff in the Libraries and Honors College to develop and advance fundraising strategies.  Participate in strategic engagement opportunities for the Honors College and UTA Libraries. Work closely with the Executive Director for Unit Development and Deans of the Honors College and Libraries to complete fundraising projects related to the Libraries and Honors College and other special constituencies as assigned.  Work collaboratively with colleagues in Development and Alumni Relations. Assist in the oversight of volunteer management for the Honors College and the Libraries, including an advisory board or committees, and participate in volunteer leadership activities that engage and cultivate relationships toward philanthropic giving. Performs all other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Five (5) years of experience in major gift fundraising and with a solid track record of securing major gifts, or related and transferable experience from corporate, community or philanthropic organizations.  Preferred Qualifications Seven (7) or more years of experience in major gift fundraising with a proven track record of success securing gifts at the six-figure level and higher. Experience managing volunteers. Experience at an institution of higher education. Experience fundraising for a College or other academic unit. Experience with capital campaigns. Experience using Blackbaud (Raiser’s Edge NXT), or other Advancement databases. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to design and implement effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies. Professional work ethic supported by commitment and follow-through. Superior communication skills with the ability to speak credibly about higher education and the aspirations of the University, Libraries, and Honors College and be able to deliver effective written and oral presentations. Ability to manage complex relationships and be a proven collaborator with teamwork skills. Ability to work in a system that emphasizes measurable objectives, including goals and metrics for major gift activity and dollars raised. Knowledge of gift planning instruments and the ability to market them to alumni and other prospective donors. A high degree of professionalism and customer service.  Professional organizational skills and ability to set and meet appropriate deadlines.  Detail-oriented with high attention to follow through.  Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, TEAMs).  Other Requirements Workplace and Eligibility Conditions Benefits Eligible Yes CBC Requirement It is the policy of The University of Texas at Arlington to conduct a criminal background check on any applicant who is under final consideration for employment with the University.This position may have access to critical infrastructure as defined by Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code.
