Department of Physical Therapy Continuing-track Faculty Position The Department of Physical Therapy in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Delaware invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, continuing-track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek experienced, innovative, and highly motivated candidates with clinical expertise and experience teaching in a DPT program in at least one of the following areas: cardiopulmonary, medically complex, or acute/inpatient physical therapy. Primary responsibilities include teaching in both lecture and laboratory courses in the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. Candidates must hold a terminal academic doctorate (e.g., PhD, ScD, EdD) and demonstrate evidence of research experience and scholarly productivity. ABD candidates will be considered. A physical therapy degree and eligibility for licensure as a physical therapist in Delaware are required. Highly qualified applicants will possess strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively as part of an educational team. GENERAL INFORMATION: The Department is a thriving academic unit ranked #1 in the nation by US News & World Report. The Department comprises over 30 faculty and professionals, as well as approximately 60 professional students per cohort pursuing a DPT, 20+ physical therapy graduate students pursuing a PhD, and PTs participating in several post-professional residencies and fellowships. In addition to our outstanding faculty, staff and students we have outstanding space and facilities, including 2 fully-equipped classrooms dedicated to the DPT program, a state-of-the are gross anatomy lab and 10,000 sq. ft. of active sports, orthopedic, neurological, and older adult physical therapy clinics. The department supports the development of a focused, productive, interdisciplinary, high-quality research program by all faculty members. The College of Health Sciences is a dynamic, innovative academic unit with more than 3,400 undergraduate and graduate students and 130 faculty members, who are nationally recognized leaders across multiple disciplines. The College is housed in multiple buildings on the traditional main campus but also is an anchor tenant of the University’s Science, Technology, and Advanced Research (STAR) Campus. STAR has become an exciting center that combines business, research and education, focused on leading topics in health science, biopharmaceuticals, data science, engineering, finance and other cross-cutting fields of study. In addition to Physical Therapy, the College has six additional academic units, including Communication Sciences and Disorders, Epidemiology, Health Behavior and Nutrition Sciences, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology (ranked #7 according to the National Academy of Kinesiology), Medical and Molecular Sciences, and the School of Nursing. SALARY AND BENEFITS: Compensation packages are competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications consistent with the existing collective bargaining agreement. Faculty at the University have regularly received annual cost-of-living and merit salary increases, and the benefits package is one of the best in the nation.
