This full-time, on-site position involves operating dump trucks with lead and pup trailers to support civil construction and utility projects. The ideal candidate is experienced in navigating tight construction zones, performing thorough equipment checks, and working efficiently with field crews and dispatchers. Learn more at: www.eastedgemi.com Key Responsibilities Vehicle OperationSafely operate a Class A commercial vehicle with gravel train (lead and pup trailers).Navigate tight construction zones, pits, and public roads with precision.Follow all DOT and local driving regulations.Properly couple and uncouple trailers.Material TransportHaul aggregate materials such as sand, stone, and construction fill.Load/unload using dump controls; ensure safe load distribution and legal weight limits.Safety & ComplianceConduct daily pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections.Report mechanical issues or safety concerns immediately.Maintain accurate HOS logs and follow all PPE and job site safety protocols.Equipment MaintenanceMaintain cleanliness and functionality of truck and trailers.Monitor fluid levels, tires, brakes, lights, and hydraulics.Assist with minor maintenance when needed.Documentation & CommunicationComplete all job site paperwork, including tickets and slips, accurately.Communicate effectively with dispatchers, crew members, and site supervisors.Use GPS, radios, or other navigation tools as needed.Customer & Job Site InteractionFollow specific delivery instructions on job sites.Coordinate with crews during dumping and material placement.Represent the company professionally in all interactions.Operational EfficiencyMaximize load efficiency through route optimization.Maintain steady material flow to support job schedules.Use proper dumping techniques to avoid equipment or site damage. Qualifications Valid CDL Class A License (with appropriate endorsements).3–5 years of experience operating gravel train or dump trailers preferred.Strong understanding of DOT regulations, HOS, and safety compliance.Experience working in civil construction or aggregate hauling environments.Ability to navigate and operate in pits, quarries, and construction job sites.Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented.Must pass DOT-compliant drug screening and background check.
