Aircraft Safety/Software Safety Engineer (Associate, Mid-Level, Senior)Company:The Boeing CompanyThe Boeing Defense Air Dominance Division Systems Safety & Mission Assurance organization is looking for and Aircraft Safety/Software Safety Engineer to join our Fighters (F-15 & F/A-18) programs in Berkeley, MO or Hazelwood, MO. We are seeking an Associate (Level 2), Mid-Level (Level 3), or Senior (Level 4) Aircraft Safety Engineer to support our growing portfolio of domestic and international customers.As a member of the Safety engineering organization, you will have the opportunity working directly with our customers & other program teammates including systems engineering, software engineering, mission systems, platform systems, flight engineering, production and flight testing.As an aircraft safety engineer, you will be responsible for working closely with other engineering disciplines to assess aircraft hardware/software/firmware design to identify all potential safety hazards and propose solutions to reduce or eliminate hazards to ensure product safety and customer mission success. Work scope includes safety hazard analysis across development, modification and operational phases of our fighter jets. Senior members will also participate in investigation of in-service fleet safety issues including in-flight emergencies, mishaps and near-misses.We are looking for individuals with a strong background in aircraft systems design and operations. Enthusiastic and highly collaborative engineers with a passion for technical details in both hardware and software or hazardous material management. Experience in MIL-STD 882, JSSSEH, DO-178/DO-254 standards is highly desirable.Ideal candidates are someone with aircraft design experience and strong critical thinking skill. Someone that works well in a team environment, ability to apply Seek, Speak and Listen approach to effectively connect and build relationship with teammates and customers. Strong written and oral communication is also an important attribute we are looking for.Primary responsibilities: Participates in research and analysis to identify potential or reported manufacturing issues (e.g. non-conformances, quality escape, FOD etc..) and, risks, and safety concernsParticipates in system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concernsSupports identifying safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using industry best practicesSupports defining and validating safety, mission success, and airworthiness; provides support incorporating into designs, operations, and proceduresParticipates in tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirementsAssists with creating and maintaining aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processesContributes by documenting safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standardsSupports creating and maintaining safety and corrective action plansProvides support to ensuring mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycleParticipates in establishing global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methodsThis position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer scienceLevel 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceLevel 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceLevel 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience2+ years of experience in aerospace systems including safety hazard analysis, environmental safety, air vehicle subsystems design & test, software design & test, hazardous material management or aircraft maintenanceAbility to travel 25%Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):5+ years of experience in Systems Safety Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Software Safety Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) or equivalent.
