Invitae, now part of Labcorp, is seeking a motivated and self-driven Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join its team in San Francisco, CA. This role will be responsible for performing high-complexity diagnostic testing on patient specimens across various molecular assays and platforms. The work requires excellent attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to multitask as well as work independently within a team environment. Previous molecular diagnostics experience highly preferredInvitae offers free parking and an innovative workplace where you can contribute to cutting edge medical technologyThe schedule for this position will be: 1st shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 7am-3:30pmAddress: 1400 16th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103Responsibilities: Performs clinical laboratory specimen handling, processing, testing, analysis, and records maintenance according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)Identifies any issues that may adversely affect the quality of test results and escalates these to appropriate representatives to ensure prompt resolutionAssists with quality control and quality assurance activitiesMaintains appropriate laboratory supplies and inventory Prepares reagents and performs instrument maintenanceOversees Laboratory Technicians performing clinical activities (in accordance with state regulations)Participates in trainings and competency assessments of other technologistsParticipates in verification and validation studies for process improvements, new equipment, and new technology transferMaintains a safe work environment and wears appropriate personal protective equipmentParticipates in continuing education creditsRequirements: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor’s degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirementsCurrent CA CLS Generalist or CGMBS License requiredCGMBS license highly preferred2 years of experience working as a CLS or Medical Technologist highly preferredMolecular biology lab experience performing DNA sequencing or high-complexity molecular techniques preferredExperience using liquid-handlers is a plusAbility to work independently and within a team environmentProficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plusHigh level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skillsMust be able to pass a standardized color vision screenFlexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needsPay Range: $50.00 – $66.26/hour All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data. Benefits: Employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for comprehensive benefits including: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, STD/LTD, 401(k), Paid Time Off (PTO) or Flexible Time Off (FTO), Tuition Reimbursement and Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
