Provides compassionate spiritual and emotional support for all Baylor Scott & White Health patients, family members and staff, regardless of faith background or religious affiliation.Essential Functions of the RoleOrganizes, promotes, and conducts religious services for patients, their families and staff including weekly worship, memorial services, baptisms, weddings, anointing and coordinating bereavement needsProvides counseling and other spiritual education activities for employees, students, and patientsSupports the end-of-life care for patients by offering pastoral support and counseling to patients and familiesPartners with physicians, nurses, social workers, counselors, and ancillary staff as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team in assessing patient needs and to improve patient careConducts a pastoral assessment of a patient's spiritual and emotional status and the need for spiritual careDevelops relationships with local churches, community agencies and service organizations which supports the Baylor Scott & White Health communityDocuments and maintains records of spiritual counseling for patientsHeavy documenting in EPIC and other forms of communication such as Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc. will be required. Key Success FactorsKnowledge of philosophical systems and religionsKnowledge of the methods and methods of pastoral care and the role of a chaplain in an institutional settingKnowledge of the religious beliefs and practices of various faiths, groups, and denominationsConfidence in verbal and written communication skillsExceptional listening skillsSkill in counseling patients, family members and staffAbility to counsel people during periods of stressAbility to passionately participate as a member of a professional therapeutic teamBelonging StatementWe believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported.QUALIFICATIONSEDUCATION - Bachelor'sHiring leader prefers a Master's degree due to the complexity of this position. EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of ExperienceCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Cln Pastoral Education (CPE-U): One unit of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education) preferred or obtain CPE within 18 months required.Hiring leader prefers (4) Units of CPE for this location. BCC preferred
