Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a Senior Staff Geotechnical Engineer to support dam, levee, and other infrastructure projects as part of our industry-leading team. The successful candidate will play a key technical role in delivering projects that enhance the safety, resilience, and performance of critical infrastructure systems across the western United States. You’ll work alongside junior and senior engineers and technical experts to plan and execute geotechnical investigations, and analyses for a wide range of dam and hydropower facilities, while also gaining exposure to all phases of project development and delivery. This role offers strong opportunities for professional growth, technical mentorship, and advancement within one of the most respected geotechnical and dam engineering practices in the world. The responsibilities of this position are expected to encompass a broad range of geotechnical subjects, depending on the skills and experience of the candidate, such as:Plan subsurface investigations including drilling exploration boreholes, advancing CPTs, and performing other insitu geotechnical tests at various sites throughout Northern California.Review and assess soil and rock samples for laboratory testing.Plan and supervise inspection of construction activities to monitor progress and assess conformance to engineering plans, specifications and construction standards.Perform engineering analyses including slope stability, seepage, settlement, earth retention,liquefaction, and shallow and deep foundations.Perform seismic stability and deformation analyses of dams, including earthquake groundmotions, liquefaction potential, and earthquake-induced and fault-Induced deformations.Perform engineering analysis using Excel, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, LPILE, APILE, GeoStudio Suite,PLAXIS, FLAC, ABAQUS, and MATLAB.Evaluate the expected seismic performance of dams, levees, outlet pipes, probable maximum flood conditions.Prepare geotechnical engineering reports and recommendations using Microsoft Office software.Review regulations and standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work.Apply QA/QC requirements to their own work and work of the project team.  QualificationsMinimum RequirementsBA/BS +2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.California Engineer In Trainee (EIT).Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or related field.4 years of related experience Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAdditional Information  Relocation may be available for this role. Sponsorship may be available for this role. Occasional project /client related travel may be requiredAbout AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
