Job Summary The Department of Civil, Environmental, and Architectural Engineering (CEAE) at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in Geotechnical Engineering and Geomechanics (GEGM). This position is anticipated to be hired at the Assistant Professor rank; however, qualified candidates may be considered at the Associate Professor or Professor rank.Candidates with an interest in addressing current research challenges in geotechnical engineering and geomechanics through comprehensive approaches—such as experimental (laboratory and field), theoretical, computational, and/or data-driven methods—are invited to apply. All research areas and methodologies within geotechnical engineering and geomechanics are considered. These may include but are not limited to resilient geotechnical infrastructure, geological engineering and rock mechanics, and geotechnics and geomechanics for sustainable energy production. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Successful candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring; develop an externally funded research program in their technical area; contribute professional leadership and service to their unit, the college, and their professional community; and cultivate and contribute to the inclusive excellence of our academic community.The typical distribution of work for this role is 40% teaching, 40% scholarly and creative work (research), and 20% leadership and service.We seek faculty whose research, teaching, and service will expand the capability, reliability, and applicability of geotechnical engineering and geomechanics to address state, national, and global challenges in a just, equitable, and sustainable way. What We Can Offer The anticipated academic year salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank is $110,000 - $125,000. Qualified candidates will be considered for Associate Professor or Professor rank.
