Job Overview

As a PolyWorks Metrologist, you will be responsible for conducting high-accuracy dimensional inspections, analyzing 3D scan data, and ensuring measurement integrity using PolyWorks software. Working with laser scanners, structured light, CMMs, and other precision measurement tools, you will play a key role in verifying components, optimizing measurement workflows, and supporting engineering and quality teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Use PolyWorks Inspector and Modeler to analyze 3D scan data, create inspection reports, and ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Perform dimensional analysis, GD&T evaluations, and first-article inspections (FAI) to support manufacturing and R&D.
  • Work with 3D scanning technologies (laser scanners, structured light, CMMs, or optical systems) to capture high-precision measurement data.
  • Develop and refine measurement techniques to improve repeatability and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to validate component integrity and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Assist in reverse engineering projects, using scan data to reconstruct digital models.
  • Maintain and calibrate metrology equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Document and communicate findings in clear, detailed reports for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with PolyWorks software (Inspector, Modeler) for metrology and 3D scanning applications.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and precision measurement principles.
  • Hands-on experience with 3D scanning systems, CMMs, or optical measurement tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and metrology reports.
  • High attention to detail with a problem-solving mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, medical devices, automotive, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of ISO, ASME, or ASTM metrology standards.
  • Familiarity with reverse engineering, digital twin creation, or automated inspection processes.
  • Strong communication skills for technical reporting and collaboration.
