SLU, which also has a campus in Madrid, Spain, is recognized for world-class academics, life-changing research, compassionate health care, and a strong commitment to faith and service.JOB SUMMARYUnder general direction of the Office of International Services (OIS), the Education Abroad Coordinator oversees all aspects of Saint Louis University’s non-Madrid study abroad programs, including traditional semester and academic year abroad, exchanges, international internships, short-term and faculty-led programs. The Coordinator provides comprehensive support to students and faculty, manages operational and risk management processes, and ensures alignment with the University’s mission to promote global education and inclusive participation. The coordinator manages daily advising for students, faculty training, course articulations, and application processes, while also serving as the institutional point of contact for study abroad partners and providers. In addition to oversight of the non-Madrid study abroad programs, the Coordinator assists the Madrid study-abroad counselor with the Spanish visa process, pre-departure orientations, and development of promotional materials.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIESAdvising students year-round on program selection, applications, visas, and course registrations.Coordinating and supporting faculty-led short-term abroad initiatives.Managing international health and travel insurance (GeoBlue).Serving as Emergency Contact for students and faculty abroad.Coordinating with partners, providers, and academic departments on program logistics, credits, and transfers.Collaborating with Study-in-Madrid Counselor to assist with promotion, orientations, and visas.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESStudent AdvisingProvide guidance to students on program selection, academic credit, financial aid, scholarships, and navigating the logistics of studying abroad.Support students with application processes, visa compliance, and pre-departure preparations.Promotion, Recruitment, and Program DevelopmentCreate brochures, update websites, and conduct information sessions to promote programs.Represent SLU at local, regional, and national events.Design and implement two annual on-campus Study Abroad Fairs.Develop, plan, and implement new study abroad programs.Evaluate and enhance existing programs in collaboration with faculty, deans, and departments.Administrative & Operational SupportManage daily operations of study abroad programs.Maintain program databases, update program information, and process applications.Develop, implement, and monitor budgets for education abroad programs.Ensure compliance with fiscal constraints regarding study abroad expenditures.Analyze study abroad costs, tuition and fees, to suggest cost-effective avenues in revising and developing programs.Supervise student workers and oversee office operations.Risk Management & SafetyAdminister SLU’s international health and travel insurance program(GeoBlue).Develop and implement emergency plans (evacuation, repatriation) and monitor global events impacting safety.CollaborationServe as primary institutional contact for exchange partners, faculty, and study abroad providers.Liaise with Student Financial Services for billing and with academic units for course approvals and credit transfers.Other DutiesOrganize pre-departure orientations and re-entry programs.Maintain communication with students, families, and alumni.Participate in intercultural orientation teams and assessment projects.Perform additional duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with Terra Dotta strongly preferred.Strong written, verbal, and cross-cultural communication skills.Demonstrated program development and project management skills.Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and international partners.Capacity to manage sensitive information with discretion.Ability to adapt to changing environments and work independently.Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (International Education, International Relations, or related field).Experience: At least two years of related work experience required.Preferred: International experience (study, work, or living abroad) and proficiency in a foreign language.FunctionStaff Program SupportScheduled Weekly Hours:40Saint Louis University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
