Neurocritical Care Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) The Neurocritical Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant who practices independently and collaboratively within a high-acuity Neuro-Critical Care Unit. This role provides comprehensive care to critically ill and medically complex neurologic patients while working closely with a highly specialized, multidisciplinary team. This role is well-suited for experienced ICU APPs looking to transition into Neurocritical Care.Our Neuro Intensive Care Unit is supported by dedicated fellowship-trained neurointensivists, 24/7 EEG services, inpatient neurology consultants, and close collaboration with neurosurgery and neuro-interventional teams, allowing APPs to practice at the top of their license in a true subspecialty environment. APPs are encouraged to grow into the neuro specialty while practicing with a high level of autonomy and reliable physician backup.Key ResponsibilitiesIndependently assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients in a high-acuity Neuro ICU settingApply core ICU knowledge and skills (hemodynamic and ventilator management, sedation, critical care decision-making) to neurologic conditionsPerform and manage invasive and non-invasive procedures (ex: central line, arterial line, lumbar punctures, intubation, intrathecal medication administration - with proctoring available as needed)Collaborate closely with multiple service lines, including but not limited to neurointensivists, neurosurgery, neurology, and neuro-interventional servicesParticipate in multidisciplinary rounds and care planningProvide overnight clinical coverage with a high level of autonomy and physician supportWhy Join Our Neurocritical Care Team?Practice in a specialized, high-acuity Neuro ICUStrong physician partnership with fellowship-trained neurointensivistsStructured support for skill development and proceduresOpportunity to grow clinically within a dedicated neurosciences programAdditional neuroscience competency incentivesSchedule & Position DetailsFull-time, day shift and night shiftSome weekend nights requiredLimited on-call shiftsProcedure proctoring and skills development available1 year commitment in a full-time Neurocritical Care APP position after educational onboarding completionRequired QualificationsBoard-certified and licensed Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), or Physician Assistant/AssociateEligible for or active National Provider Identifier (NPI) prior to start dateMeets Medicare billing requirementsActive DEA registration (Schedules II–V) and state prescribing authorityCurrent BLS, ACLS certificationsEmergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) certification – or will obtain within 6 months of hireParticipates in ongoing educational requirements and demonstrates neurocritical care competencies as determined by the neurosciences divisionPreferred QualificationsMinimum of 1 year of experience as a NP or PA in a Neurocritical Care or other ICU setting (medical, surgical, cardiac, or mixed ICU)ORNeuro ICU experience as a Registered Nurse with transition to NP or PA roleWe are an equal opportunity employer.
