Dominican University Careers JOIN OUR TEAM Position: Adjunct Faculty, Physical Sciences Department (Spring 2026) Location: Chicago, IL Job Id: 2201 # of Openings: 1 Adjunct Faculty, Physical Sciences Department (Spring 2026) Position Available: January 11, 2026 FLSA Status: Exempt (salary) Job Status: Part-time Faculty (non-tenure track) Position Summary: The Chemistry Division of the Physical Sciences Department at Dominican University is seeking a part-time Adjunct Faculty Member to teach the following courses: CHEM 101: Introductory General Chemistry lecture CHEM 101: Introductory General Chemistry laboratory CHEM 101 is a non-majors course taught primary to pre-nursing students and as a general education science course. These courses are offered in-person. The ideal candidate will be based in the Chicagoland area to work with students in a face-to-face environment. The adjunct faculty member may work with senior economic faculty to examine current textbooks, teaching materials, and software specific to this course. Required Qualifications: Minimum of a Master’s degree in a chemistry-related discipline. Preferred Qualifications: At least 2 years of demonstrated teaching experience (experience with Canvas Learning Management System preferred) Excellent oral and written communication skills Responsibilities: Adjunct faculty are responsible for the following: Adhering to the university policies, procedures, and university calendar with respect to reporting information to university offices. Administering student evaluation and timely and accurately submit the required paperwork related to instruction, including grades and course evaluations. Grading weekly assignments, responding to student emails and phone calls promptly, and providing feedback in a timely manner. Preparing course materials, including writing test questions and delivering assignments appropriate to the subject matter. Meeting with students and hosting office hours.
