Smith is headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with approximately 12,000 employees at operations in the United States, Canada, China, India, Mexico, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.Primary FunctionProvides support in all Environmental Health Safety & Security (EHSS) functions and coordinates plant wide safety and environmental efforts and compliance for Florence, KY and may support additional sites as needed. Responsibilities may include but not limited to EHSS specific projects, program implementation, audits, training, compliance, risk assessments, worker’s compensation, and EHSS systems administration.ResponsibilitiesAssist management with the annual plant budget for EHSSResponsible for engineering assignments requiring a broad knowledge of environmental engineering and ISO 14001 standardsLead Environmental permitting and compliance regarding Title V, Wastewater, Storm Water, Universal Waste, Hazardous Waste, and Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know (Form R and Tier II)Lead Federal, State, and Local/Municipal inspections and investigationsSite level - Lead and monitor environmental improvement programs/projects (ESG) and initiativesPartner with site leadership on Global EHSS standards and initiativesLead EHSS safety initiatives, required safety training, safety coaching, and security functions at Florence, KY and may support additional sites as neededManage EHSS through ISO-based management platform and reporting toolsPerform routine tasks such as project safety plans, job hazard analysis, incident investigations, workplace observations, and ensure safety equipment is maintainedAlign site EHSS objectives with business goalsAssist with Company-wide programs such as drug testing and safety awardsReport on safety performance to Corporate EHSS Director and plant managementCoach/Supervise indirect reports (EHSS Committee)Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety/ EHS related degree3-5 years related work experience in a manufacturing settingOSHA 511 or ASP certification preferred.Knowledge and current understanding of all applicable regulations including federal, state and local laws and standards. (US EPA, SSHA, DOT, OSHA, etc.)Good general problem-solving skills.Excellent written & verbal communication.
